Bake Off’s Prue Leith to investigate assisted death for explosive new Channel 4 documentary
PRUE Leith ventures out of the Bake Off tent to present a hard-hitting show on assisted dying.
The culinary expert will join her son, Conservative MP Danny Krugerto explore the controversial subject of Channel 4.
They will travel to Canada and the United States to better understand the subject and discuss their findings along the way.
A TV insider said: “Viewers will see a very different side to Prue in the program as she is a strong supporter of assisted dying.
“On the other hand, his son Danny opposes the idea, saying it is risky because it opens the door to abuse and exploitation.
“That way the conversations they’re likely to have on their travels will be interesting to watch.”
Pastry shop judge fresh think the law should be changed to help those who want medical assistance to die when they are “absolutely fed up with life”.
She cites the pain endured by her older brother Daviddied of bone cancer in 2012.
But Prue, who is a member of campaign group Dignity In Dying, respects her son’s position.
Both will be food for thought in the United States and Canada, where more than a quarter of the population now have the option of choosing medically assisted death – and have done so since 2016.
But there are still people in both countries who strongly oppose this decision and it remains a controversial topic.
The experiences of their emotional journey can be seen when the show hits our screens next year.
Romesh: I’m out of sight
ROMESH Ranganathan revealed his inner turmoil working with two of the most handsome men in sport.
The comic learned to laugh at the attention co-stars Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff got on the Sky Max panel in A League Of Their Own.
On his new Netflix stand-up show The Cynic, Romesh recalls an occasion when the guys posted a photo online after training with the Marines.
He says: “I looked at the post and every comment was: ‘I’d fuck Freddie’, ‘I’d fuck Jamie’, ‘I’d fuck them both’, ‘I’d bite them at the same time’, ‘They’re so hot ‘.
“I thought, ‘What’s going on?’ I thought, “There must be one”, so I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and finally I made a comment about me, and that’s what he was really saying, “Oh my God , I got so bubbly watching Jamie and Freddie, I had to watch Romesh just to calm myself down”.
Natalia nailed it like a wag
PLAYING Rebekah Vardy proved a challenge for Natalia Tena – because of the Wag’s long fingernails.
She portrays the footballer’s wife in a TV version of the libel case between Rebekah and Coleen Rooney which will air later this month on Channel 4.
Natalia appears in Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama alongside Chanel Cresswell as Coleen.
On the Graham Norton podcast, she said: “His nails – that was one of the hardest things for me. They took three hours to get on me, and then I didn’t know how to use the toilet.
“Like, how to type? Learning to be that whole new person. . . I had to ask Chanel. She was like, ‘Babes, use a knuckle.
Gemma on her way to the Alps
It’s not often you catch a bunch of celebrities wearing such practical clothes.
But all ready for winter are the cast of this year’s Channel 4’s The Greatest Snowman.
The show, which challenges stars to build a series of snow sculptures, is back for a second outing later this month.
I can exclusively reveal that the line-up is led by reality TV queen Gemma Collins, who was dressed in fuschia pink for filming in the Alps.
She is joined by Gareth Malone, who wore a mint green snowsuit, and Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas.
DJ Melvin Odoom and Capital Xtra star Yinka Bokinni complete the set.
The Greatest Snowman returns to C4 and All 4 this Christmas, with Sue Perkins returning as host.
Last year’s 90-minute special averaged 1.8 million viewers with stars including Johnny Vegas and Dani Dyer.
BONKING IS BACK AT BRIDGE
ONE of TV’s toughest jobs has to be servicing the bedsteads at Bridgerton.
And Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury, says those mattresses will be working overtime in the Netflix hit’s third series next year.
She said, “More fabulous stories, outfits, locations, and more fabulous sex, of course.” People who love it will continue to love it and those who aren’t sure might be really intrigued. This series is special.
This is good news for fans who were disappointed with the lack of steamy scenes in the second series.
Adjoa also said there would be “more Lady Whistledown reveals” as Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s love story is explored.
