TV deals always get people excited during big trade events, and that’s because you can usually find massive discounts on the biggest and best TVs from brands like Samsung, LG, Philips, Sony Bravia, and more. There are plenty of decent TV deals on Prime Day and around Christmas, but nothing comes close to Black Friday.
Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) is famous for its awesome TV deals, so if you’re looking to upgrade, these sales are a good place to start.
What is Black Friday?
Black Friday started in the US, but seems to be growing in importance every year in the UK.
Since the 1950s, stores across the United States have offered impressive deals the day after Thanksgiving to kick off the Christmas shopping season. In 2013, Asda held a Black Friday sale on this side of the pond and offered deals on a wide range of products. Other retailers jumped on the Black Friday bandwagon the following year, and the rest is history.
We collectively spent £435m in 2013 when the concept was still in its infancy in the UK. Today we spend billions – the highest total in Europe. Black Friday is clearly a very different beast than it was just a few years ago, and that trend is set to continue into 2022.
When is Black Friday in 2022?
As Black Friday proper falls on November 25 this year, retailers will start rolling out their deals much earlier. Black Friday really lasts from mid-October until December.
Black Friday vs Cyber Monday — what’s the difference?
Getting a bargain on Black Friday used to mean camping out at a retailer in the middle of the night as soon as the store opened. But once online shopping became mainstream, online retailers wanted a piece of the Black Friday pie. Cyber Monday was born thanks to the people of the early 2000s who wanted the best possible internet connection to do their shopping. At the time, desktop computers had better broadband than home setups, which forced people to wait until Monday at work to do all their shopping online. In 2005 the NRF coined the term Cyber Monday and we have been shopping online ever since.
Last year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales effectively blended together, as in-person shopping wasn’t much of a thing. We will almost certainly see that repeated this year.
What TV deals will we see in 2022?
Everyone’s excited about TV deals, and that’s because a bunch of big retailers tend to offer massive discounts on all the hottest brands. We’re expecting big deals on TVs like Sony Bravia, Hisense, LG, and many more big brands. You should be able to find deals on small screens, huge 8K models, and everything in between. So whatever you’re looking for, there should be something for you during Black Friday.
All major tech retailers start dropping offers from early November (or sooner). Amazon, Currys and Argos have a history of putting out impressive TV deals, but it’s not just these retailers. Almost every site will be offering big savings during this busy shopping season, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for at one retailer, keep calm and move on to the next one. Patience is key during this hectic shopping season.
4K and 8K TVs will likely feature in plenty of deals during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and we’ve seen plenty of discounted TVs on Amazon already.
Where to find the best TV deals in 2022?
The best retailers to consider if you’re looking to invest in a TV are the names you’d expect. There are no big surprises here, but here are the retailers you should check out for the best deals during Black Friday:
-
Amazon(opens in a new tab) – This huge online retailer is always a hit on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and it should probably be your first option when it comes to TV deals. You can find absolutely everything on the site, including popular models like Philips Ambilight and Samsung 8K TVs.
-
Argos(opens in a new tab) – Won’t have the range of deals that Amazon and Currys will have, but you can often find little gems on Argos. We recommend keeping an eye out for Argos if you’re looking for deals on smaller sets.
-
curries(opens in a new tab) – Currys PC World offers real competition to Amazon when it comes to TV deals, and we expect another battle in 2022. You should be able to find plenty of deals on all the biggest brands, including Toshiba, Panasonic and TCL.
-
john lewis(opens in a new tab) – It might not seem like the most obvious place to find TV deals, but there are always plenty of deals to consider on top brands. Plus, John Lewis is normally one of the best retailers when it comes to warranties, which is useful if you’re spending big this Black Friday.
There will be plenty of offers elsewhere, but you’ll save a lot of time and energy by prioritizing these sites.
What were the best TV deals in 2021?
Last year we saw deals on all the most popular TV brands during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with deep discounts. We hope for something similar in 2022, and early signs are good.
We’ve seen plenty of deals on 4K TVs last year, and expect to see more in 2022. You’ll be able to buy 4K TVs again at deep discounts from all the biggest names. Something we didn’t see much of was deals on 8K TVs, but that could change in 2022. There will be plenty of customers looking to upgrade to match next-gen consoles, so 8K technology could be at the top of Black Friday wish lists.
We can’t predict exactly what will happen this year, but if you want to keep up with all the best TV deals, you should bookmark this page. We’ll be bringing you all the best deals throughout Black Friday, so you can walk away with the biggest discounts on anything on your wishlist.
