Cassidy Gifford named godmother of Carnival celebration: Travel Weekly
Actress Cassidy Gifford, daughter of television personality and longtime Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson Kathie Lee Gifford, will be the godmother of the Carnival Celebration during the ship’s christening ceremony on November 20 in Miami.
In a video, Cassidy was surprised by the news of her mother, who was godmother to Carnival Celebration’s namesake, the M/S Celebration, which was christened in 1987.
In the video, Cassidy and Kathie Lee explained how Cassidy started sailing on Carnival as a child and has many childhood memories of vacationing on Carnival ships with her mother and late father Frank Gifford, who was an NFL player and broadcaster.

“Carnival Cruise Line has been a big part of our family with my earliest memories of family travel on Carnival ships,” Cassidy Gifford said. “And now to be asked to be the patron of the namesake ship of the one my mother christened is truly an honor and a blessing. There was no hesitation when my mother asked me, and I look forward to see this amazing ship in Miami in November.”
Kathie Lee said: “Being able to pass the torch to my daughter Cassidy as she is named patron of the new Carnival Celebration makes me so happy I almost cried!”
Cassidy, 29, has been acting since a young age and starred in the 2014 film ‘God’s Not Dead’ and the 2015 horror film ‘The Gallows’. She has appeared in many other television and film roles. Cassidy lives with her husband in Nashville.
Carnival Celebration’s inaugural cruise departs Miami on November 21. The ship will accommodate 5,282 passengers based on double occupancy.
