How to hide likes on Instagram, because we don’t care, anyway

In order to make user experience more enjoyable, in 2021 Instagram rolled out the ability to hide likes and show counters on all posts in their feed. In this way, users can focus on contentrather than content popularity.

This update also gave users the ability to hide likes and view their own post counts to other users. You can hide similar items and show post counts before you post them or you can do it retroactively.

We’ll walk you through how to hide Instagram likes on your feed and on your own posts.

How to hide likes on other accounts:

1. Open your Instagram profile

2. Select the three black lines in the upper right corner

3. Select “Settings”

4. Search for messages and select “Messages”

5. Enable “Hide likes and show count”

How to hide likes on your Instagram post before sharing it:

1. On the last page before posting your Instagram photo (where you write your caption and tag counts), scroll down and select “Advanced Settings” in gray.

2. Enable “Hide likes and show counts on this post”

How to retroactively hide likes on your Instagram post:

1. Navigate to the post you want to hide likes on

2. Tap the three gray dots in the right corner of the post

3. Select “Hide as Account”

After hiding the number of likes under a post, it will say “liked by user and others”.

This is your sign to hide likes on your Instagram.
