John Fetterman, who has been absent most of his career, returns to chair the Senate subcommittee on food stamps
While some Democrats are now actively calls for Dianne Feinstein, 89, to step down from her Senate seat There seems to be only cheers as Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, a man who barely functions as an independent adult and must receive significant help in order to perform his daily duties, must return to the Senate.
Fetterman, who was receiving treatment for depression severe enough that he had to be hospitalized for six weeks, will return to work and is already set to lead a food stamp hearing.
“The news has fallen! I am very happy to be presiding over my first subcommittee hearing next week,” he said. tweeted Wednesday. “We’ll talk about protecting SNAP, fighting for PA farmers in the Farm Bill, and much more. I hope you will listen.

This law is getting old
Fetterman has been gone since Feb. 15, meaning he served less than a month before taking his six-week leave to work through his depression and hearing loss.
Left-wing sites such as policy attempted to portray this as something that happens often, citing other senators such as Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Dianne Feinstein as examples of politicians who had to take time off while in office.
What no one can deny though, what even Politico had to admit to some extent, is that Fetterman is not a usual case. Fetterman’s health has come under intense scrutiny since he ran for the Senate last year in his showdown against Republican nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Fetterman suffered a severe stroke last May and since then has had language issues, requiring him to have full-time staff and carers not only available to assist him with his work, but also in their daily activities.
“Since taking the oath, Fetterman has used transcription technology to help him speak to colleagues and conduct Senate business,” Politico said.
During his time at Walter Reed Medical Center, he also signed a bipartisan rail safety bill into law, leading many to wonder if he made the decision himself or if members of his staff had done so on his behalf.
Democrats are asking Senator Dianne Feinstein to step down for health reasons.
Why don’t these same Democrats call for the resignation of Joe Biden or John Fetterman?

Will the real Wizard of Oz rise?
In March, when Fetterman was shown to have co-sponsored the railroad bill, he faced massive criticism from conservatives over whether he was actually working. Fox News’ Tucker-Carlson was one of the most notable voices to draw attention to this point.
“Fetterman arrived in Washington in January and within a month suffered such severe depression that he ended up in the psychiatric ward where he is staying tonight,” Carlson said at the time.
“He hasn’t appeared in public since. And we’re supposed to think that’s okay,” Carlson added. “We’re not even supposed to think about it and show how completely normal it is that newly elected U.S. senators have nervous breakdowns and disappear from public view.”
Carlson drew attention to the authenticity of the railroad bill he co-sponsored, saying, “So here’s a guy who gets 24-hour psychiatric care deciding how to prevent train derailments .”
“There are so many questions here. But the most obvious is a logistical question: how does John Fetterman do this if he’s in the psychiatric ward? And we don’t know because no one will tell.
Well now we’re finally going to have to see what things really look like with Fetterman leading this new subcommittee. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.
