NAACP calls on Twitter advertisers to pull ads when restoring Trump account

No, “the people” did not “speak”. A poll was carried out on Twitter for an entire day, without any notice as to the timetable or the stakes and without any real opportunity for an information campaign on the consequences of either “vote”.

Musk has spoken.

Now others want to be heard, including the NAACP, which on Saturday night called on all advertisers to suspend their Twitter campaigns to ensure they are “still not funding Twitter” after Musk. restored account access to Donald Trump, who was effectively banned from all social media on January 8, 2021, two days after the attack on the Capitol. The NAACP Statement bed:

In Elon Musk’s Twittersphere, you can incite an insurrection at the United States Capitol, which resulted in the deaths of several people, and still be allowed to spew hate speech and violent conspiracies on his platform. All advertisers who still fund Twitter must immediately suspend all advertising. If Elon Musk continues to run Twitter like this, using rotten polls that don’t represent the American people and the needs of our democracy, God help us all.

Johnson added a tweet:

There’s every reason to believe that not only is Musk “going to run Twitter like this”, but that Musk bought Twitter for “this” purpose. No – not just restoring Trump, but stirring shit up in the “town square”, bending the conversation itself to his will. After all, this whole “Musk-Twitter-Thing” started with Musk publicly saying that “it didn’t sound rightthat Twitter pitched conservatives but not liberals, with the assumptions behind the statement being as wrong today as they were then.

Also, to reiterate Johnson’s main message, every reason to suspend Donald Trump from Twitter remains as strong, if not stronger, today as it was on January 8, 2021. Trump has learned nothing. He didn’t change anything. He is entering a dangerous new period in which a special advocate will feel compelled to act quickly, perhaps issuing indictments. Trump could once again turn to his “army” and ask them to “go wild” to advance Trump’s agenda by making his arrest “too dangerous.”

Imagine the horrors. Last time, Trump had only lost the presidency and would return home to Mar-a-Lago to plan his comeback. This time, however, there could easily be criminal charges blocking his return to the presidency or even his freedom. Imagine what could be done.

God help us all, indeed. The reaction of advertisers remains to be seen. After all, isn’t there an old adage that “people talk, money works”? Of course, at no time did Musk act as if he had bought Twitter as a financial investment for economic growth. He has an agenda that can go beyond advertisers. He may really not care if the money works, just yet.
