MANILA, Philippines — TNT veteran Kelly Williams has been cleared for Game 3 of the PBA Governors Cup Finals.
Williams’ availability couldn’t be more timely for the Tropang Giga, who just lost another front piece to Justin Chua for the remainder of the series due to a torn ACL.
“The good news is Kelly will be cleared for Friday but we don’t know how much we’re going to get from him. If he can give us some precious minutes it could be a welcoming show,” Lastimosa said after TNT beat Barangay. Ginebra, 95-82, in Game 2 on Wednesday.
Williams, 41, has been out since last month with a calf injury.
Williams is averaging 8.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game this conference.
“We are ready to play with our small formation with Calvin (Oftana) at 4 and Glenn (Khobuntin) at 3. I think Tim (Cone) has said on paper that this is the formation he has problems with.”
Game 3 will take place on Friday at Araneta Coliseum.
