Rohit Sharma welcomes Ishan Kishan to the ‘double hundred club’ with epic one-liner

India captain Rohit Sharma has praised Ishan Kishan for becoming the fourth Indian to score an ODI double cent. Kishan followed in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit himself.

The young southpaw scored 210 runs on just 131 balls against Bangladesh on Saturday, December 10. He also broke the record for the fastest 200 in ODI history.

Rohit himself has three double hundreds to his name in the ODIs, including the all-time high of 264. He knows exactly what it feels like to reach such a milestone.

The Indian skipper recently posted a picture of Kishan celebrating his double cent and left a witty caption that read:

“Yeh club ka mazza alag hai (Being part of this club is a different pleasure), @ishankishan23”

The youngster agreed and responded with an equally witty comment. He wrote:

“Maza hi maza hai 🤝 (It’s unlimited fun)”

Rohit Sharma injury gave Ishan Kishan opportunity to open

Ichan Kishan has been on the sidelines of India’s ODI squad for quite some time now.

He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka last year and has been traveling with the second-string team ever since. The 24-year-old scored an impressive half-century earlier this year on the Zimbabwe tour and also netted a hard-hitting 93 against South Africa at home.

Rohit SharmaThe thumb injury ruled him out of the third ODI against Bangladesh and it gave Ishan Kishan the chance to show his skills.

The southpaw probably knew he wouldn’t get many chances ahead of the ODI World Cup and made that chance count with a whopping double cent. It could put the cat among the doves as far as other openers like Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan are concerned.

I can’t put into words what I’m feeling right now but I’ll try. I am overwhelmed with love, messages, wishes. It’s a round that will forever be in my heart, a day that I won’t forget and those moments that I will always carry with me. Thank you for everything 🇮🇳 https://t.co/xlNzuWxA4w

Kishan made it nearly impossible for selectors and team management to overlook his displays. It will be interesting to see how this move changes the landscape of India’s most important decisions for the ODI World Cup next year.
