A boy was killed in Montpellier during clashes between French and Moroccan fans after the World Cup semi-final.
A statement released by the local government office said the boy was “violently hit” by a car in the town, southern France, on Wednesday.
He was transferred to hospital, but died shortly after arriving, the Hérault department said.
The vehicle was found near the scene and police are investigating.
Video shared on social media showed crowds on the street around an erratically driven car.
French and Moroccan fans also clashed in Paris after the game. Police in riot gear were called in to disperse the crowd.
Earlier, France secured their place in the World Cup final in Qatar after beat Morocco 2-0. They will face Argentina in the final on Sunday.
